The Tinybeans Initiative
When you record your child's progress in Tinybeans not only are you getting peace of mind that your child's development is on track,
you are contributing to an initiative to better understand how ethnicity, demographics, and gender affects child development.
Seek help now or wait?
How many times have you heard children in multi-lingual famiies speak their first words later, or that girls develop faster than boys?
Every child's circumstance is different and this variance makes it hard for parents to know when to seek help.
Suppose your 3-year-old boy is not yet speaking, should you seek medical advice now or should you put it down to him being a boy and that you are a multi-lingual family and wait?
Real data
The Tinybeans Initiative seeks to collect statistics that will help parents make this "seek help now or wait" decision.
When you record your child's milestones on Tinybeans the data is stored and later used to create statistics (don't worry, Tinybeans only uses anonymous data - most notably when you child completed a particular milestone, personal data such as notes are never used for analysis).
As more parents use Tinybeans, more data is collected and the statistics become accordingly more accurate.
This data will be fully available to Tinybeans parents so that they can be used to measure their children's progress against other children of the same gender, ethnicity and demographics.
This initiative can only work if enough parents participate to make the data statistically accurate. Please help by spreading the word to other parents you know.
Thank you for your participation
Thank you for taking part in this initiative towards a better understanding of child development.
